HOUSTON, Mo. (Sept. 15, 2026) — Missouri Ozarks Community Health is pleased to welcome Chrystal Akers, a family nurse practitioner, to the Houston clinic. She will begin providing care on September 29. “Chrystal is from the Ozarks and knows our communities really well,” said Randall Gann, CEO of Missouri Ozarks Community Health. “We know she will fit in well with our team and be a great asset to the community.”
This will be Akers’ first role as a family nurse practitioner, though she is already familiar with the Missouri Ozarks Community Health after completing most of her student rotations with the organization. Previously, she worked as a nurse in an emergency room setting. “Chrystal’s background as an ER nurse brings many valuable skills to our Houston clinic, including the ability to think quickly, listen closely, and care for people during some of their hardest moments,” said Jennifer Heinlein, chief operations officer of Missouri Ozarks Community Health. “That experience will help her serve patients and families with confidence, compassion, and practical knowledge.”
Akers said she is excited for the change and looks forward to spending more time with patients. “Working in the ER for so many years, I really didn’t get to build rapport with my patients because it’s such a chaotic environment,” Akers said. “I’m really excited to build those relationships.”
