AVA, Mo. (Sept. 2024) – Missouri Ozarks Community Health is thrilled to announce that it will be hosting its annual MOCH 5K Run/Walk and Health Fair on October 12 at the MOCH Wellness Center. This is the first year for the health fair since the end of the COVID-19 pandemic. “We are excited to bring the community together for some fun activities that focus on better health outcomes overall and to promote healthy exercise through our annual 5K run/walk,” said Randall Gann, chief financial officer at Missouri Ozarks Community Health.
Those attending the health fair will receive free health screenings, discover healthy behaviors and engage in physical activity. Free food and drinks will be available at the event. And several free activities for children are planned.
This is the 11th year that Missouri Ozarks Community Health has held its 5K run/walk. The event helps raise money for the Missouri Ozarks Children’s Health Fund, which ensures that children can get care from the MOCH Dental Bus. “We do see every child that needs to be seen on the dental bus, regardless of ability to pay,” said Dr. Sybil Fortner, the lead dentist for the MOCH Dental Bus. “That grant fund helps us see all the kids that we can.”
Runners interested in participating in the 5K run/walk can prepare for the race by joining the MOCH Do Run Club. Regular practice runs are held in the weeks leading up to the race. A lifetime membership to the club costs $15. But those who register for the MOCH 5K Run/Walk before race day can receive a club membership with the cost of their $20 registration. Registration on race day is $25. Runners can register at runsignup.com or at mo-ozarks.org under the news & events section.
The MOCH 5K Run/Walk will start at 8 a.m. on Saturday, October 12. Packets for racers can be picked up from 12-6 p.m. on October 11 or from 7-7:45 a.m. on the day of the race. The health fair will be held from 10 a.m.-2:00 p.m. Both events will take place at the wellness center at 603 W. Broadway Ave. in Ava.
